Third Birthday

I fall more and more in love with my little girl the older she gets and the more her very own personality shines and shows its true self.

At three, this is what I now know about my daughter:
  • She is terribly unco-ordinated.  If there is something to trip over it's almost like Amaya seeks it out and falls over it.  She is forever stubbing her toes.
  • She is extremely sensitive.  This is something Luke and I are trying to foster and nurture.  Just at the swimming pool the other day she took the time to go to the baby pool and give all the little ones, whom she doesn't even know, an encouraging pat.  On the other hand, her sensitivity can also be her undoing.  She doesn't take too kindly to 'angry words' (as she calls them).  I would call them disciplinary words.  Nor does she take too kindly when another girl at school does not want to be her friend for the day.  Luke and I are trying hard to toughen her up so that she can find a comfortable place to be.
  • She has no concept of modesty.  She strips off at any moment, in any location, and if anyone says the word 'shower', she'll be right in there with you.  Luke's father (a father of all boys), recently said, 'I'm going to have a shower' and Amaya was quick to strip off her clothes.  Poor Greg didn't know what to do.
  • She loves to paint, cook, draw, colour, cut, glue, garden - she is much more interested in the creative side of life than me.
  • She is obsessed in ballet and is very very girly.  To be a ballerina for Amaya is the be all and end all.  My oldest brother gave her a proper ballet outfit for her third birthday.  We have now booked her into classes.
  • She has freckles on her nose like me.

Amaya celebrated her third birthday at a miniature railway.  Here are a few photographs from the day.
