This is another reason why I love the West. A five minute drive down the road is a little Vietnam. In fact, if you didn't know you'd think you were in Vietnam, albeit a bit cleaner and bit less noisy. I love having a weekend expedition to Footscray. The Asian bakeries, restaurants and spice shops are authentic and enticing.
It's also a very safe place to take Amaya for lunch or dinner. The Asians love children. I always feel comfortable if I have a screaming or unruly child as there are children everywhere. It is commonplace to find them in such places.
It is a little odd to think that this place is around the corner. It is in stark contrast to the wealth in Yarraville, the beach and restaurants at Williamstown, and city just down the road. And that is another reason why I love the West.
