Best/Worst

Worst:

The worst for this week is definitely witnessing the Queensland floods.  The inland tsunamis.  2/3 of the State, or 1 million square kilometres, is affected in some way by the floods.  To date, 16 people are confirmed dead and there are still 53 missing.  Australians have raised over $55 million.  No doubt more will be raised through the charity tennis matches at the Australian Open and the number of music concerts that have been set up around Australia.  Last year we were all donating money to the tragic events of Black Saturday.  The generosity of all Australians - even when most are already doing it tough themselves - never ceases to amaze me.

Best:

On the day I received the distressing news about my little womb girl, I went to the letterbox and inside was a beautiful little blue envelope.  Obviously a mother or father in the area had been doing creative work with their child.  The constant rain is sure to have sent many parents nuts.  This little envelope had an angel stamp on the front and inside was a white piece of paper whereby the child had tried to write their name.  It brought a smile to my face.  It was just what I needed.  Just like a little angel was watching over my precious girl.

Share your best/worst for the week if you like.  It really is a very cathartic process.

Worst: Being forced by an acting supervisor at work, who is trying to stamp her authority on the role, to make a decision about resigning from my previous job - instead of just being on leave. Everyone was quite content about the situation of me just taking leave from my previous job (to keep my options open) and not formally resigning. The underlying comments and underhand approach seemed very much like blackmail. Why do people find it necessary to stir the pot in order to score points and feel smug and better about themselves!!!!

Best: My beautiful son enjoying working at Safeway....he comes home after after shift with tales of customers antics and requirements; different manageing styles and techniques; lost children being reunited with parents; and spillage disasters. It is so cute to see him oozing with such enthusiasm. He is even managing to save a penny or two!

Not the 'best' but a funny that happened at my work was a drunk that we recepted - his name really sums up the importance of parents being very careful about the names they choose for their offspring. The guys name was Richard Pullen - otherwise known as Dick Pullen. Can you believe it???!!!

Looking forward to reading some other peoples Best and Worsts.

Thank you for sharing this blog entry, it also brought me to think I should start same thing too.

Life is short, should enjoy and love everything as it happens.

the best/worst series is a great way to highlight it.

I share mine in my blog, it's in English rather than Chinese:p

I like your best and worst this week, Shan.

It is often the worst situations that bring out the best in the human spirit. What more stunning demonstration of that than the response of Australians to the Queensland floods. $55 million - that is astounding. Not to mention all of the help and assistance that can't be financially quantified.

I have been watching the television with a lump in my throat all week. Tears have spilled over many times. I am so impressed by Anna Bligh. I would be proud to have her as our Prime Minister. No political rhetoric from her, just honest, sensitive, insightful and powerful words. What a woman.

Thinking of you Shan. How wonderful to receive an angel in your letterbox :) I would be warmed by that too.

xoxo
