Thank you to all who have called me, texted me, emailed me, left messages on this blog, popped over to see me or thought about me - or even cooked me meals (Thank you to Tanya - mother of 7 month twin boys - your mothers group is right: you are a superwoman!). Your support has meant so much to me.
We had our first scan last Wednesday and the little girl within was showing signs that she was carrying the parvovirus. We have another scan this Tuesday to further the tests. If she continues to show the same high blood results then I will have an emergency c-section and she will have a blood transfusion. It's so much easier to treat the baby outside the womb when they are carrying this virus, except of course if you are earlier than 20 weeks. Yet, the next scan may also show that she was able to fight the virus herself.
It is a week-by-week check. And it is this that is emotionally and physically draining. At the last scan I was a mess and the poor doctor tried her very best to reassure me, whilst always acknowledging that we all need to be aware of the risks. I think I'm going to be a mess at every scan until I know deep in my heart that the little girl is going to be just fine.
