On Sunday 10th August, Amaya celebrated her first birthday. What made the event even more special was that she celebrated it with her cousin, Hayden (pictured below). Amaya and Hayden are born on the same day (11/8), but a year apart. Terrie, Hayden's mum and my sister-in-law, and I, decided to hold a 'primary colours' birthday party. This meant that all attendees had to come dressed in blue, yellow or red, or a combination of these colours. All attendees participated in this theme and the room was a-colour with blue, yellow and red. Mind you, it was a very cold day - snow even fell - and most people were in cold weather appropriate blue clothes.
Not Amaya though. She was wearing a bright red top, blue shorty-short overalls, and bright red woollen tights (pictured below). During the day we played pin the tail on the donkey and pass-the-parcel, and shared in the eating of a BBQ and salad - all with primary coloured plates, cutlery and cups.
We were sure to sing the birthday children a 'Happy Birthday', and even another celebratory song for my English sister, Lynda, whose birthday was on 9/8. Although Amaya probably didn't know what the day represented, she sure knew that everyone was acknowledging her when they all sang a 'Happy Birthday' (pictured below).
I cannot believe my daughter, Amaya Eve, is now a one-year-old. She is full of personality, always happy and chatty, and looks more and more like Luke each day. The only look in I get is the curly and boofy hair, and the unusual toes on one foot. She eats so much food, is 81cm in length and weighs 10.5kgs. She brings great joy to my life and every morning when I hear her chatting in her cot I am warmed to the heart to know that she is mine forever.
PS I have a brand new Mac - so expect to hear more from me!

i'm impatient, i know, but i thought you said that new mac = more posts. i can't wait.
Hey Charlie......and what an awsome birthday party it was too!!! I even wore 6 inch heals.... because they are red.....not the best choice of footwear given the climate! I couldn't believe how tall Amaya had grown sice seeing her last. She certainly had a wonderful day and was very at home with all the attention she attracted.... a true Leo!!! As always, you all did a tremendous job of marking the occassion, and Amaya is a beautiful and very lucky young lady.
Love you....your Pomme sister, El XXXXX
I find it difficult to believe that a year has passed since the birth of your beautiful daughter.
I can clearly remember coming to visit you in hospital and seeing her for the first time, she was so cute.
While Amaya does look like Luke a little more each time I see her, I can say with all honesty that she too shows happieness, a joy for life and people and a cheery disposition exactly like her mummy.
