Amaya may be six months in age, but she is more than the number six. She is now 7.8kgs and 70cms in length. In fact, she is the length of a nine-month-old baby! So, where is Amaya at now? She now rolls over, but has great difficulty rolling back. She now cries, laughs, shrieks and talks louder. She now sleeps on her stomach, or side, as I became fed up going down to her cot a couple of times during the night just to return her to her back. I was determined that she had to enjoy being on her tummy. In all honesty, I think she sleeps so much more soundly on her tummy/side. She loves her pureed vegetables and fruit (in particular, the combination of apple and peach), but is not so comfortable with the next stage - meats. She is fascinated in what she can make her hands do, and how far she can put her feet into her mouth. To me, she is just a real little treasure.
As for me ... many of you may have being wondering where I have been hiding out? I'm so sorry - I could make many excuses, but I will stick with the excuse of adapting to work and motherhood. I have now returned to work four days a week, and Luke has taken on the role of the stay-at-home-parent until April. He is doing an amazing job as each night when I return home from work, Amaya is so so happy. Luke just mentioned to me today that he believes it's important for both parents to take turns rearing their children so that each parent has a common understanding of the at-home-parent's daily life. Only since I have returned to work do I honestly realise that being the at-home-parent is the hardest job of all. My hats go off to all at-home-parents. My hat is raised even higher to those mothers who also manage to fit in a career. Thus far, I have learnt that it is vital to be organised, consistent with all tasks, positive, and most importantly, allow some quiet time for one's self. Never in my life have I being this busy - and I LOVE it!
And so, this is where my happy little family is on our journey through life.
We are the dupes of myth
when we unbraid
Ourselves because we love;
for we are made
For loving: all the sweets of living are
For those that love. Be joyful. Unafraid!

OOhh Amaya, how beautiful you are! You are growing so fast and looking more like your dad everyday. Shan, I am so glad to hear you are enjoying working and that Luke is getting to experience the challenging role of 'stay at home dad'. You and Luke are a great team and I take inspiration from you both back to my life every time I read your blog. Love Jo.
